Open Water Swim Training
The swim section of a triathlon holds the greatest concern for most triathletes competing for the first time. Training regularly in supervised, coached open water swim sessions with a wetsuit can be a great help and prepare you perfectly for the Tatton Triathlon challenge ahead!.
During the Summer Season our Swim Co-ordinator, Dave Quartermain (www.uswimopenwater,com) holds newbie-friendly open water swim sessions at various venues across the Northwest including Boundary Water Park, Holmes Chapel (CW48HT) which is not far from Tatton Park. These are now running from 5:30-8:00pm every Thursday until mid September. Cost of the sessions is £5.00 with no registration fee. The venue has all amenities and no pre-booking is necessary. Just turn up, register and swim in lovely, warm (18dgrees plus) water!
Other Uswim Openwater session runs every Saturday morning at Dock 9, MediaCity, Salford Quays (M50 3SP)
This training session is held at the same venue as used for the 2002 Commonwealth Games and is ideal for all abilities of swimmers / triathletes. It runs 8.00-11.00am until mid September. Current water temp (June) is 16degrees C and rising.
All Uswim Openwater sessions are supervised by experienced long distance swimmers (English Channel, Loch Ness, Manhattan Island etc) and venues offer accurate 400m and 750m GPS measured courses with expert coaching and Open Water Swim Workshops available.
Well done for entering Tatton Tri, now get your wetsuits out and get swimming in a Lake or Dock soon!
